Diana Crețu
Community Engagement Director
Diana is an inquisitive, resourceful, and driven multipotentialite who is grateful to have found community and be settled on Treaty 6 Territory (Amiskwacîwâskahikan). Born in Romania sometime after the country’s transition to democracy, following 42 years of communist rule, Diana grew up in a climate of hope as she was the first generation of her countrymen since WW II to be born free of fear and despotism. After moving to Canada as an international student, Diana spent her years in post-secondary juggling between business, sociology, drama, and visual arts courses. At the same time, Diana was also actively involved in Alberta's student advocacy ecosystem, using her voice to champion student rights on a provincial level. With a deeply rooted passion for effecting positive social change and achieving measurable systemic impact, Diana has spent her professional career in the human services sector bringing together diverse stakeholders, facilitating collaborative projects, and getting to know the Edmonton social innovation ecosystem intimately. Diana has learned that, especially in the context of community-led collaborative projects, and the vital work of human services, change only happens at the speed of trust. Grounded in this knowledge, she always strives to move forward with authenticity in order to learn from and build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders along the way. When she is not attempting multiple DIY home-improvement projects at once or working on a new mixed media piece, Diana can be found playing board games with her friends, dragging her partner to IKEA against his will, and reading about social innovation initiatives happening globally.
