In-Depth Spark Guide Training for Program Leaders 

Join us for this two-part “train the trainer” opportunity, designed by Imagine Institute for Learning in partnership with PolicyWise for Children & Families. Program leaders will explore strategies and concepts from the Spark Guide to enhance your capacity to support your program and educators.   


Training Overview: 

        The phased approach consists of two sessions: 

1.     Virtual Introductory Session: A 3-hour online session offered on multiple dates and times for your convenience. 

2.     In-Person Session: A full-day training near your location, with over 20 dates and venues across the province, plus virtual options for accessibility. 


  • Funding Support: Programs are eligible for release time funding for the hours dedicated to this training. 
  • Please note you must attend both sessions to facilitate this training in your programs. 

  

Training Goals: 

·       Train the Trainer: Build your skills and confidence to effectively adapt and apply what you learn in your program. 

  • Empowerment: Equip yourself to share knowledge and practical strategies with your staff, support their training, and implement aligned practices.

PART 1: Introducing the Spark Guide for Program Leaders (virtual, synchronous) 

Train-the Trainer Part One 

This three-hour virtual session is designed to provide a strong foundational understanding of the Spark Guide’s key principles and concepts. This session ensures program leaders are well-prepared for the full-day in-person training. 

 

Session Objectives:           

  • Introduce the Spark Guide. 

·       Understand the program leader’s role in modelling culturally responsive practices. 

  • Understand the program leader’s role in facilitating sessions to support your programs and educators. 
  • Share and explore strategies to support culturally responsive practices.

PART 2: Empowering Culturally Responsive Program Leaders 

Train-the-Trainer Part Two 

This full-day session aims to equip program leaders with skills to facilitate learning and conversations, exploring the concepts and strategies in the Spark Guide, with educators in their programs. Join other program leaders in your region for an in-person session designed to empower you through a “train the trainer” approach. Become a Spark Guide champion in your community! Please note you must complete the introduction session (part one) before registering for part two. 


Session Objectives: 

  • In-Depth Learning: Build on the foundations laid in the introductory session with a focus on learner-led engagement. 
  • Share and Grow: Bring your experiences and culturally responsive practices to share with fellow program leaders, fostering collective growth and learning. 
  • Adaptable Content: Learn how to tailor and adapt what’s in the guide to meet the unique needs of diverse child care programs across the province. 

 

Training Experience: 


  • Interactive Methods: Engage in hands-on activities and group exercises for dynamic, immersive learning. 
  • Comprehensive Resources: Receive hand-outs with practical resources and templates to support effective implementation of the guide in your program.

    Who is this training intended for?

        This training is intended for Early Learning and Child Care Program Leaders. The main audience is for those who are working within licensed child care agencies. 

    I do not work within a licensed child care agency; can I attend training?

        We recognize there is a large community of professionals who support the early learning and child care workforce, we welcome you to join part one.

    How do I register for a session?

        Use the following link to visit the Imagine Institute for Learning booking page, you will see a calendar that includes a list of training that is available. Select your preferred date and follow registration instructions to complete the booking. You will receive a confirmation email after successful registration.

    I cannot answer the registration questions for part two, how can I proceed?

        This training is intended for Early Learning and Child Care Professionals. If you cannot answer the questions to register for part two, please email info@imagineinstitute.ca for guidance and more information with this. 


    Is this training eligible for release time funding?

        Yes. If you are an Early Learning and Child Care worker employed within a licensed child care agency you are eligible for release time funding.

    Do I (the educator) apply for release time funding?

        No. Imagine Institute for Learning will request and process release time funding on behalf of each person. 


    When will release time funding be processed?

        Only after attending both part one and part two. Imagine Institute for Learning will process and request the release time funding on behalf of the educator.


    Will I receive a certificate?

        Yes. Participants will receive one certificate in total.  

    When will I receive a certificate?

        Only after completing part one and part two; a certificate of completion will be sent out via email.

    What are the next steps after I have completed part one and part two?

        After reviewing and signing the Memorandum of Understanding you, as the trainer, will gain access to the materials and can begin to facilitate training within your agency.
