Madison Fankhanel
Communications Coordinator
Madison started with Imagine as a summer student, and then never left! She worked as a
curriculum developer in the summer of 2022 and 2023, and just recently helped develop the
Human Centred Approach to Understanding Mental Health session. Besides curriculum
development, Madison also has a creative side, and discovered her love for content creation
over the summer. You've likely seen her all over our social media, and all of our "Imagi-Nation"
drawings are done by her! If you've ever had a training poster made by us, it was made by her
as well. You may have even seen her in the training room!
Madison is just finishing up her BSc. in Honours Psychology at the University of Alberta and
hopes to continue her journey in supporting people with their mental health journeys once she
graduates. Madison has lived in Edmonton (Amiskwacîwâskahikan) on Treaty 6 Territory her
whole life and hopes to spend some time in her future exploring the world and the many cultures
and experiences the world has to offer. Madison is rich with innovative ideas and a will for
change. She spends a lot of her time volunteering, previously serving as the co-president for a
mental health club at the University, sitting as a representative for the Student Mental Health
Network on campus and recently received the Hilda Wilson Memorial volunteer recognition
award for her contributions to the community. She also dabbles in research and just wrapped up
her honours thesis. She recognizes the importance of operating from a trauma-informed lens
and loves that she gets to do that while working for Imagine!
When she’s not working or at school, Madison loves to curl up with a good book, try new recipes
and spend time with her partner. (A great day is when she gets to do all three!)
